What is Double Dutch Publishing?

Double Dutch is an independent press and reading room for the overlooked and the fascinating. We publish a small, deliberate list of our own, and we curate and champion deep-cut books from independent presses worldwide — the extraordinary titles that never got the marketing budget and so never reached the front table.

What is Double Dutch Kids?

Double Dutch Kids is our children's imprint — dedicated to entertaining young minds with educational content. Stories built to delight and to teach, made with the same care we give every title on the list.

How is this different from Goodreads or Amazon recommendations?

Recommendation engines optimize for the safe bet — the title ten thousand people already bought. We optimize for the right book for you, even if only a thousand people have found it. Our picks come from people who read for a living and from The Underread, our AI reading-room clerk — not from an algorithm chasing what's already popular.

What is The Underread?

The Underread is our AI bookshop clerk. Tell it a book you love, an author, or just the feeling you keep chasing, and it matches you to a deep cut from our corpus of overlooked indie titles — the kind of recommendation you'd get from a brilliant bookseller who actually remembers what you like, not a 'customers also bought' list.

Why should I subscribe?

A few dollars a month keeps an independent press alive and lets us pay writers and narrators properly. Friends get the newsletter in full, our narrated audiobooks, early access to new releases, a standing discount in the shop, signed copies, the reading-room Discord, and a real say in what we publish next. Big houses have shareholders; we have friends.

What are your newsletters about?

One overlooked book in your inbox each week — a deep cut worth your evening, with a reason it earned the spot. Subscribers also get free writer's guides and members-only editions. It's free to join, and there's a paid tier for readers who want the full archive and extras.

Do you accept submissions?

We do not accept outside submissions at this time. We do, however, offer proofreading and editing services for writers — see our Writers Tools for more on what we can help with.

How often do you publish books?

We publish a small handful of titles — quality over quantity is the whole point. We'd rather release a few books a year that genuinely deserve the room than flood the list. Our current catalog is on the Catalog page, with more coming.

Where can I buy your books?

Every title links straight to Bookshop.org, which supports independent bookstores with each purchase. Friends can also buy signed and personalized copies directly from us. Browse everything on the Catalog page.
