Double Dutch is small on purpose. A short, deliberate list; a reading room built around it; and a handful of people who would rather hand you the right overlooked book than the obvious one.

A letter from the founder

Why I started a press.

I started Double Dutch Publishing after a decades-long career in finance and trading. I have been writing fiction since I was 8 years old and wanted something to do instead of learning math.

Today, with the advent of A.I., I concluded there is nothing more durable and immune to automation than genuine, human, literary talent. That is what I want to reward, and that is what I plan on doing full time for the rest of my life.

To me that means highlighting the underread and underappreciated wherever I happen to read it.

T.H. Hammer

Author

When he was born, his mother fitted him with a gas mask and stuck him in a tomato basket in anticipation of a chemical attack that never occurred. Since birth he writes the kind of fiction that starts as a joke and ends as a wound. The author of “Truthing It All Up”, a novel about the art of manufacturing convincing lies in the age of social media and faux celebrity. Hammer lives in a secure compound guarded by an exotic pet and infrared cameras.

Ermelina Hoti

Author

Ermelina Hoti was the financial director of a shipping company and a born human lie detector, as her husband says. After years steering the books of a freight business, she retrained as a fraud examiner following a stint in Venture Capitalism, stumbling upon the many shady practices startups use to inflate valuations and cook the books. “Perfectly Legal Scams” distills that double life into a wry, unnervingly practical taxonomy of how people cheat and how, eventually, they get caught.
